In 2009 Mr. Windhorst founded investment holding company Sapinda Holding B.V. (“Sapinda”). In 2018, Sapinda re-branded to Tennor Group (“Tennor”). Tennor is a global investment holding company which invests in public and private companies through the acquisition of majority and minority stakes, as well as public and private debt instruments.
Mr. Windhorst founded Windhorst New Technologies AG in 2000 with a focus on investments in the internet and new technologies sectors. In 1995, Mr. Windhorst established Windhorst Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd. in Hong Kong and by 1996 the company had diversified into a trading and investment conglomerate with activities in electronics, industry, trading, real estate and finance. Mr. Windhorst founded his first company, Windhorst Electronics Group, at the age of 16 in 1993, assembling and distributing PCs and IT products across Europe with first year sales of over USD 50m. Mr. Windhorst was a member of Dr. Helmut Kohl’s (the then German Federal Chancellor) economic advisory board, and accompanied the Federal Chancellor to help generate business connections globally. Mr Windhorst was also the youngest “Global Leader for Tomorrow” at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Mr. Windhorst has been heavily involved in various philanthropies and has generously donated to charities in the field of art. He is a patron and benefactor of the Serpentine Gallery and member of the Council of Trustees of the Serpentine Gallery in London. He has been involved with supporting two world renowned art exhibitions. Firstly, the display of ‘Reichstag Unwrapped’, a photographic exhibition by conceptual artist Christo at the Reichstag in Berlin, twenty years after he first created his iconic building wrapper; and secondly, supporting the ongoing exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
