Max Söpper

Co-Founder and CTO AVILUS

Max Söpper is Co-Founder and CTO of AVILUS – a manufacturer and operator of a new class of dual-use drones for medical evacuation, logistics, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and close air support (CAS). The drones fall into a new class with a maximum take-off mass of around 800 kg and a characteristic dimension of up to 8 m. The most prominent example is the multicopter Grille - the world’s first military grade rescue drone.

Max’s background is aerospace engineering with a special focus on flight physics and flight controls. He graduated from Technical University Munich and started as a PhD candidate at the institute of flight system dynamics at TUM. During his phase as PhD candidate in 2021, he was part of the initial core team behind the aircraft concept of a flying stretcher – the Grille. Starting from an empty paper, the team reached the maiden flight of a full-scale prototype within two years.

Max joined the AVILUS management team when AVILUS became operational in 2023.
