"I focus on open-minded Individuals who are Givers, not just Takers"

Dr Cornelius "Conny" Boersch on the Mission Behind Unternehmertag at Tegernsee

Dr. Cornelius Boersch is not only a successful entrepreneur, investor, and start-up founder but also the visionary behind the Unternehmertag am Tegernsee (Entrepreneur’s Day at Tegernsee). Since 2007, this exclusive annual event has brought together more than 600 prominent figures from business, politics, and entertainment in a stunning setting. What inspired Conny to create Unternehmertag? What makes it unique? Here is what he shared:

What sparked the idea for the Unternehmertag, and what's most important to you about it?

👉 Conny: For me, networking is one of the most underrated tasks of an entrepreneur. After selling my first company, I set myself the goal of becoming one of the biggest networkers. But networking doesn’t scale if you just have lunches or dinners – you need events.I’ve hosted a winter ski event for 29 years, and 18 years ago, I decided to create something similar: an event in a beautiful location, just for networking. At the time, I’d been to a lot big conferences and often found the venues uninspiring and lacking in atmosphere. They were overcrowded, the food and wine were poor, and transport was a nightmare.I wanted to change that – to offer an event in a stunning setting with great people and fascinating speakers. That’s why I launched Unternehmertag at Tegernsee in 2007.

There are many events out there – what makes the Unternehmertag stand out?

👉 Conny: My priorities as an organiser are different. Unternehmertag isn’t about profit. That’s why we don't compromiseon quality – whether it’s the speakers, the food, or the wine. My goal is for people to walk away and say, ‘Those were three amazing days – I gained something valuable, and it’s helped me move forward.’It’s also about the people. I focus on creating an atmosphere with open-minded, generous individuals who are givers, not just takers. This community spirit is what makes Unternehmertag so special.

How has the Unternehmertag evolved over 18 years?

👉 Conny: Unternehmertag is a vibrant mix of elements that offers something for everyone. We cover current and relevant social and political issues, but we also explore emerging areas such as spirituality and longevity – subjects that might seem niche now but are likely to become mainstream. Our aim is to identify and discuss what really matters, ahead of the curve.

What can participants expect next year under the theme "Security and Resilience: Strategies for a Changing World"?

👉 Conny: Security and resilience are critical in today’s political landscape. For too long, these topics haven't been on our radar. Now, with challenges like the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we are being forced to rethink how we approach security. At Unternehmertag, we’ll be exploring these issues with speakers such as Jean Asselborn (former Foreign Minister of Luxembourg), Dalia Grybauskaitė (former President of Lithuania), Tzipi Livni (former Foreign Minister of Israel), Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, former US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, and extreme mountaineer Wolfgang Messner, among others.

💡 Takeaway: Unternehmertag isn’t just another networking event – it’s a carefully curated experience designed to inspire, connect, and tackle the issues that shaper our world.

The next Unternehmerrtag takes place from 19 – 21 March in Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern at Tegernsee. If you are ready to explore Security and Resilience at the next Unternehmertag, send a request email to contact@unternehmertag.org.
